Universal Laws, Pt 4 ~ The Law of Action
In Part 4, I want to share with you the Law of Action. The name is pretty self explanatory. This law is crucial if you really desire to have the Universal Laws working in your life.
The Law of Attraction generally gets all of the accolades of the Universal Laws. Teaching this law has been compromised by singling it out. If staying mentally focused on what you want were enough to attract it, you’d have it by now. The fact is that none of the Universal Laws work alone unto themselves. They all work together in harmony to complete the full picture. So far we have covered three of the seven laws I will be covering in this series. In case you missed them you can read them here: Part 1 (The Law of Vibration) , Part 2 (The Law of Attraction) , Part 3 (The Law of Cause and Effect) .
The Law of Action must be applied in order for you to manifest things on earth. For this law to be active in your life, you must engage in actions that support your desires. Only by taking actions which correspond with your thoughts, dreams, emotions and words will the universe know what to bring into your life.
Wallace D. Wattles, in his book The Science of Getting Rich said, “Thought is the creative power, or the impelling force which causes the creative power to act; thinking in a certain way will bring riches to you, but you must not rely upon thought alone, paying no attention to personal action. That is the rock upon which many otherwise scientific metaphysical thinkers meet shipwreck – the failure to connect thought with personal action.”
When you take action, from the smallest thing you do in the morning, you set into motion corresponding effects that change your immediate future. If you follow up every day, day after day it can become your way of living and the results will be exponential. But if you fail to take that first action, there won’t be any results in your future.
You cannot just sit and expect things to fall into your lap without effort. Does this mean you have to struggle? Absolutely not! If you are “struggling” to reach your goals you need to decide how badly you want what you desire. It should be something you WANT to do, not that you HAVE to do.
I have frequently heard many people answer the question, “What do you truly desire?” with “I want to be rich!” Now, “rich” can mean different things to different people but in most cases it refers to money. There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting money and success, to be wealthy and prosperous.
Let’s say that is YOUR goal. You want to be rich, a millionaire or even a billionaire. Can you see yourself as a millionaire or a billionaire? If not, the first thing you have to do is become success conscious. Napolean Hill, in his book Think and Grow Rich says, “Success comes to those who become success conscious. Failure comes to those who indifferently allow themselves to become failure conscious.” You must change from failure consciousness to success consciousness.
If someone were to ask you right now do you see yourself as a millionaire? What would be the first thing that comes into your mind? If your immediate response is not a resounding YES then you know you are not success conscious. You first must see yourself as the success you want to become and then ACT on it!
This is the first step and until you take it, you can’t begin to see positive results happen. Remember the Law of Vibration equals Positive feelings = positive circumstance, negative feelings = negative circumstances and The Law of Attraction equals positive focus. When you see yourself as a millionaire and focus your energy on that goal, you raise your vibration to higher, positive level. At this point you believe and see yourself as a millionaire so the next step is to ACT. What do I mean by ACT? I mean allow yourself to become aware of the opportunities made available to you and take them. ACT like a millionaire!
If you are under the misguided notion that millionaires sit around all day and do nothing but enjoy their money, it’s a delusion. I personally know a few and not a single one sits around and does nothing. Do they enjoy their wealth and success? Of course they do! But they are constantly looking for new opportunities to maintain and/or increase their wealth. Once you see yourself as a millionaire, you will watch for and seek out opportunities to increase your wealth. That is how the Law of Action works. It works in tangent with all the other Universal Laws. Without action there are no results!
In his book, Think and Grow Rich, Napolean Hill told a story about a great warrior who wanted to ensure his victory on the battlefield. He was facing a powerful enemy, whose forces greatly outnumbered his own. The battle was to take place in the enemy's country, which required he and his army to travel by ship. When they arrived on the shores of the enemy country, he unloaded his soldiers and equipment, then gave the order to burn the ships that had carried them.
The great warrior turned to his army, pointed to the burning ships and said, "You see the boats going up in smoke. That means that we cannot leave these shores alive unless we win! We now have no choice -- we win or we perish!"
You can win any undertaking you choose if you are willing to burn your ships and cut off all sources of retreat! Only by doing this can you be sure to maintain the state of mind known as a burning desire to win. This is essential to your success. When the going gets hard, and the outlook is dismal, you must never let go of the burning desire within you to succeed.
Once you master the principals of this philosophy and start to follow the instructions for applying these principals, your financial situation will begin to improve. Everything you touch will become an asset for your benefit.
“The scientific use of thought consists in forming a clear and distinct mental image of what you want; in holding fast to the purpose to get what you want; and in realizing with grateful faith that you do get what you want.” (Wattles, Wallace D., 1908)
The Law of action states that you must do the things and perform the actions necessary to achieve what you desire. Without action there is no reaction. (The Law of Cause and Effect) One of our biggest downfalls is allowing ourselves to become too intimate with the word “impossible”. You need to remove this word from your vocabulary. Nothing is impossible!
If you are struggling, take a look at your thought processes and try to determine what is standing in your way. A few examples could be:
- The habit of measuring everything and everyone by your own impressions and beliefs.
- Thought habits and processes have been steeped in poverty, want, misery, failure and defeat.
- Belief that highly successful people got it by luck or genius.
- An inability to accept and believe that NOTHING is impossible.
It should be fun envisioning what you want and then taking action. Then repeat the process over and over to get everything you want. Decide, believe see and feel what you want in your life, follow your inspired action and take the steps to create it.
Do you know the story behind movie director Steven Spielberg’s success? In case you don’t, I’ve included it here. You will see the Law of Action in action!
Steve Spielberg had dreamed of being a movie director since childhood. As a child, he began making films on a primitive camera. As he grew older his dream never subsided. How he got his start at Universal Studios is a legend in the movie industry.
Steven took the Universal Studios Tour, an attraction that allows visitors to get an inside look at the studios and movie industry. Visitors ride around the different studio lots on a tram. During the tour, Steven sneaked off the tram and hid between two sound stages until the tour had ended. When he left at the end of the day he made a point to speak a few words to the gate guard.
Day after day he went back to the studios for three months. He walked past the guard, waved at him, and the guard waved back. He always wore a suit and carried a brief case, letting the guard assume he was one of the students with a summer job at the studio. He made a point of speaking to and befriending directors, writers and editors. He even found a vacant office, took it over and listed his name in the building directory.
He made it his business to get to know Sid Sheinberg, then head of production for the studio’s television arm. He showed him his college film project, which so impressed Sheinberg that he put the young man under contract with the studios.
Steven Spielberg’s first full length film was The Sugarland Express. It received critical acclaim and won a best screenplay award at the 1974 Cannes Film Festival. It didn’t do well at the box office but that didn’t deter Spielberg. His big break came a year later when he discovered the book Jaws. The studio had already decided to produce Jaws and had chosen a well-known director to film it.
Spielberg desperately wanted to make this film. Despite the financial failure of The Sugarland Express, his self-confidence had not diminished and he persuaded the producers to dismiss the chosen director and give the film to him. From the beginning the production was fraught with problems but when the Jaws was released in 1975, it was a twofold success! It broke box office records and the critics loved it.
Steven Spielberg went on to product the Indiana Jones series, the award winning The Color Purple, Empire of the Sun, E.T. and Jurassic Park. He continues to this day to pursue his dreams and when he and two other Hollywood moguls created their own production company, the named it Dreamworks!
As you can see from his story, he had a dream, he focused on that dream and he took action to make that dream become reality.
English poet, W.C. Henley wrote, “I am the Master of My Fate, The Captain of my Soul”. Are you the master of your fate and captain of your soul? What do you want and how much do you want it?
Put your whole mind into present action. Act NOW! There is never any time but now and there will never be any time but now. The crucial point is where thought and personal action must be combined. By thought the thing you want is brought to you; by action you receive it.
Put your whole mind into present action. You can’t act in the past. Dismiss and clear the past from your mind. You can’t act in the future because the future is not here yet. Don’t spend time in the present with your mind on the future. Have faith that you can deal with events in the future when they come. Use your present situation as a means to getting a better one. Use your current environment as a means to getting into a better one. Hold your vision with faith, purpose and gratitude and ACT NOW!
Your vision and faith with gratitude will set forces in motion to bring what you desire to you and your action will cause the forces in your own environment to move you toward the place you want to be. You must use your thoughts as directed by these principals and begin to do ALL you can where you are.
Good things will come your way - opportunities will start to emerge. It´s the Law.
